Waipapa House

The award-winning Waipapa home, recognized with a regional gold at the 2020 Master Builder Awards, is a stunning example of modern coastal living. 

Located in the Bay of Plenty, this retreat features a striking scoria-red vertical corrugate and dark-stained cedar exterior. The design merges two distinct zones under a split gable roof: a northern living area with dark-stained cedar and plywood finishes, and a southern sleeping zone offering cool, serene respite from the daytime heat. 

Inside, dark-stained cedar walls stretch toward high, vaulted ceilings in the living areas, creating a warm and spacious atmosphere. 

Thoughtfully designed for natural cooling, the home incorporates large overhangs and electronic actuator screens to manage coastal climate extremes effortlessly. 

Designed by Strachan Group Architects, this functional yet stylish Kiwi retreat seamlessly integrates into its environment, embodying both practicality and aesthetic excellence.
